Assignment 4

Assignment 4

1. Discuss what the main idea of the video is?
The main idea of the video was to show us how much the world has change over time with technology. Also, that technology can affect people both positively and negatively. It also shows how technology was growing over time and how is nowadays.

 2. Do you see yourself as past oriented or future oriented? Why?
I think I'm both future oriented and past oriented. I'm future oriented, because I want to be a successful pediatric oncologist and I want to go far in life. However, I consider myself past oriented, because things from the past can still affect me in the present. I always end up going back and thinking about what I should've and shouldn't have done.

 3. Do you agree or disagree with the speaker in the video? Explain why?
I disagree, because it all depends on the person. Everyone is different. Some may spend time using technology the whole day, while others may not. Also, some people are stuck in their past, and don't even want to think about their future.

 4. Do you agree with the speaker's view that young adults' minds are being "digitally rewired"? Explain your answer.
Yes, I agree. I agree, because technology is affecting young adults all over the world. Although some may use it for their benefits, others take advantage of it. That ends up affecting them not in a positive way, but in a negative way.

 5. Why does the narrator in the video argue that young people dislike a single-function device such as a wristwatch?
Because now, young people are used to the technology that we have and watching a wristwatch can be something "old" since we have the most advanced technology nowadays.

1. Why did Sir Tim Berner's Lee decide to make the World Wide Web free when he created it at CERN?
He decided to make the World Wide Web free because he figured out that if it was free, more and more users would be able to use it and the internet would become something of our daily thing.

 2. What are the benefits of having "web addresses," an idea that Sir Tim Berner's Lee created?
It is a great idea because there are so many web pages on the internet that each site has its own address. If all websites had the same address, you would not be able to find something that you are looking for. Also that it is a very easy and fast way to look up information.

 3. How does the World Wide Web allow people from all over the world to communicate?
We can communicate through blogs, social networks. We also communicate by using e-mails, and other methods thanks to the World Wide Web.

 4. Why is it important to link information? What are the benefits of having instant access to information?
It is important to link information because it makes it easier for us to open a web page automatically. Also because instead of typing all the link down, with just a click it takes you right away to the web page you want to visit.
